For my favorite football teams, Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys, both have the exact same issues with coaching and management. For the Cowboys to truly change it must start there. There cannot be any more excuses. The coaches and assistants design the game plans, insure player preparation, scout the opposition, and hold the players accountable. The players execute. For both the Cowboys and Longhorns coaching staffs, they deserve extremely poor grades all over and outright failure in some.
What is Wade Phillips and Mack Brown getting paid for? Don’t they make a combined total around 8 to 9 Million? Aren’t they supposed to make sure their OC, DC, and Special Team coaches are doing their jobs and have the right people in those positions? Aren’t they responsible for keeping their players and coaches sharp and on the edge? Aren’t they supposed to challenge their players to push themselves to the very best that they can be. Aren’t they supposed to instill confidence, focus and discipline in their teams and have some hand in every aspect of what goes on with the offense and the special teams, etc. Aren’t they supposed to help their players get better and better each year …. Absolutely not happening! Very sad!
Both Wade Phillips and Mack Brown, along with their coaching staffs would get failing grades in my book so far this season. Very sad for that 8 to 9 Million, right? The only excuse Wade has is that Jason Garrett (OC) was hire before him, which was absolutely crazy, since that is hardly ever done and seems that Wade does not have the power to fire anybody. Mack Brown … make your best friend, Greg Davis, retire. If he did not have have VY and Colt (true leaders), he would have been fired many years ago. Ever realize why he has not received legit big time head coaching offers? hhhmmmm!
