NFC Championship Game
N.Y. Giants @ San Francisco 49ers – 6:30 pm TV: FOX
HERE IS WHAT I PREDICT ….
Feel the Energy! Ultimate battle in the trenches type of game here. Both teams’ defenses feature one of the games better pass rushing units and the ability to stop the run. The Giants defensive front led by Jason-Pierre Paul and the 49ers led by Justin Smith and rookie sensation Aldon Smith all have eyes on the opposing teams quarterback. So it comes down to who’s offensive line can protect the quarterback and establish the run from the get-go to open-up the passing game. A healthy Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs has ignited a spark for the Giants running game that has kept Eli Manning out of third and long situations, moving the chains on critical passing downs. With all these factors coming into play, I think the 49er defense does a good job at stopping both Bradshaw and Jacobs and New York will maintain San Francisco’s bruising running back Frank Gore and shadow all-pro tight end Vernon Davis with an extra corner Corey Webster, a speedy defensive back for most of the game. With both defenses coming prepared and taking away both offenses strength points, I have to go with the team that has more weapons at receiver that are more capable of gaining more yards after catch, winning the one on one match-ups. So I’m going the Giant way and Eli Manning making a play or two more than Alex Smith late in the game.
PICK: N.Y. Giants 24, 49ers 23
